so i have been and brought the singstar wireless mics which on opening  contain just that, 2mics a reciever and batteries.  I presumed i would then be able to just buy the tracks i want from psn but no

apparently i gotta have a disc....*****?   so i have to go buy a disc of songs i prob dont want  just so i can purchase and play songs i do from psn..............Surely this cant be right

can anyone set me straight

You do indeed need to purchase a singstar PS3 game to use tracks from the store (the application you can download for free from the store is only a viewer).

If you do not like the list of tracks on any of the various PS3 discs available then I would suggest grabbing one of the cheap ones to get started (something like Singstar: Take That seems to be one of the lower priced options).

Note: make sure you get a PS3 disc - although you can use the PS2 singstar discs you still need to launch the game with a PS3 disc and then swap in-game.
