I play a lot of games on the ps3. Even some casual, singstar isn't something that appeals to me. Saying that this should be forced onto the xmb is a horrible idea and I'm astounded it was even implemented. It's bad enough that we can't move or delete the icon, but the patronising attitude of the comments made by Nina Scherer suggests a complete lack of understanding when it comes to her customer base. Not only should the icon issue be resolved, but I honestly think that Nina should at let receive a severe reprimand. Her comments were juvenile and inappropriate, and not a positive representation of Sony.

Bottom line... My PS3 = I should decide what goes on it

You all accepted Sony's ToS and EULA, so Sony can do pretty much anything they want since you've agreed to.
It's sad this Nina lady has to waste time replying to ya'll because of an icon is too much of a problem. Spoiled users *sigh*. She could be doing something a lot better than replying to a bunch of ungrateful people online.
If none of ya'll wanted, you shouldn't have upgraded to 4.30 OFW, simple as this.
Props for Nina having time to respond to ya'll, that takes a lot of patience.

Yes. I agreed to the update.
Yes, I agreed to the changes outlined in that update's changelog.
No, I wouldn't be anywhere near as upset with this change IF IT HAD BEEN LISTED IN THE CHANGELOG. But yes, even then, I would be requesting an option to remove the icon. I'd be less offended, because at the moment, I'm NOT looking at changes I agreed to, I'm looking at a change I didn't want and WASN'T advised about in advance.
Also, if the icon wasn't installed, we wouldn't be complaining about it. I think you meant to "an icon for a program that isn't installed" because if the icon istelf (which is enough to be frustrating and in the way) wasn't installed, there wouldn't be a problem to complain about.
No, the icon doesn't take much HDD space. But yes, it does take space, and more importantly, it adds clutter, which is the problem. And it adds clutter which advertises something I don't want, and never will want on my PS3.

nice to see gamers are still requesting this pointless icon be removed, none of us requested it and most of us have no use for it, theirs a minority complaining about the complainers but the icon was forced upon us, to play online we have to have the mandatory updates so please just remove it.
Yea hoping people dont get fed up with headbutting the wall of silence and inaction.
Its there first thing every damn time boot up the ps3 or want to play a game. Setting boot to whats new is hardly any better. Really just an option to delete it. Please.
Thats all we ask, the choice.

Give us the option to remove this icon.

Dear Sony and Singstar,
I swear, I pledge, that if I ever at any time in the future buy either for myself, or as a present for someone else, a singing game, it will not be Singstar. That is a oath that I am making on my mothers life.
Do you get the idea? I am more than unhappy with you guys. When the next gen' consoles come along I will be looking long and hard at XBOX also. I now understand how you managed to anger the hackers so much.

My reason for objecting to this icon is the invasive advertising. I also object to the netflix, love film and music unlimited. I have to accept the term and agreements of the SOE platform I am 'renting' but please don't abuse my loyality.
My concerns are this xmb will be packed full of unsolicted software that will clutter the few actual app's that i utilise. It is not the fact it is singstar, it is the fact that it is anything that i have not requested. I'd be just as ***** if it was borderlands 2, assassins creed 3 or the furry honeypot adventure.
Thin end of the wedge. It will be interesting to see if unsuccessful multi-billion titles get pushed to the XMB in the near future.
